Water’s Edge partners with Metro Relief every month to serve the homeless in downtown Dallas. What does “serving” look like? We head out on Metro Relief’s bus, serve soup and drinks, hand out clean socks and hygiene kits and build relationships with people who have next to nothing. We’ll provide whatever training is required. All you need to do is show up and have a heart to treat people with the respect you’d give a guest in your home.

A day of serving starts with meeting at Metro Relief’s headquarters in The Colony at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. We make soup, load up our supplies on the bus and then head downtown. Everyone travels on the bus, so you don’t need to take your vehicle downtown. We return to The Colony between 2:00 and 3:00 PM, where we spend about 30 minutes cleaning up the bus and doing the dishes.  You’re typically ready to go home by 3:00 PM.
