High School DTX (Discipleship Training Xperience)
Fall Study: Can I Ask That?
Teenagers are tired of vague, superficial, or nonexistent answers to their tough questions about God, the Bible, and Christianity. Just when they’re capable of diving into the deep end of their faith, all too often the church keeps them splashing around in shallow waters. Research has shown, it’s not doubt or hard questions that are toxic to faith. It’s silence.
The trusted voice of the Fuller Youth Institute and proven best practices from churches around the country converge to provide you with tools both to start conversations about hard questions, as well as to lead students toward discovering their own faith convictions.
This fall we will continue to go through the Can I Ask That Student Guide series. These eight sessions tackle the following tough questions:
- What is the Bible, anyway?
- Why does the Bible contradict itself?
- Can I be a Christian and believe in evolution?
- Does God discriminate against women?
- Is Jesus really the only way to God?
- What does the Bible say about being gay?
- Does God endorse violence?
- How can I follow a God who would let Christians do such bad things?
Whether you’ve never asked these questions before or you’ve been aching for the chance, this guide is meant to be a starting point for each conversation.
Ready? Go ahead. You can ask that.
We encourage every student to get a copy of Can I Ask That, so he or she can work through the questions at home and come to DTX ready to ask real and honest questions. The books will be available at DTX or on Sunday morning for $10 (If you are unable to buy the book, please let us know and we will still get you one).
If you have any questions, please contact Matthew Shaefer.

December 15: High School and Middle School White Elephant Gift Exchange
Join us for our annual White Elephant Gift Exchange to wrap up High School and Middle School DTX for 2020. We will meet at church on December 15th from 7:00- 8:15 p.m. There will be yummy holiday treats to stuff our faces with. All you have to do is show up with a friend and a ridiculous white elephant gift to exchange with everyone. What is a white elephant gift you ask? It’s a cheap, random present you can find lying around your house… basically some junk you don’t want any more. Some favorites have been: A framed picture of yourself, a can of beans, or even a taxidermy iguana. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Anthony.
