I Am New

You are here: Home » I Am New

We know it can be somewhat unnerving to step into a new environment, especially when there are a lot of unknowns. To give you a glimpse of what you can expect, we have put together answers to some frequently asked questions about the church that will help you understand what Water’s Edge is like week to week and hopefully address issues important to you.

What kind of church is Water’s Edge?

Water’s Edge is a refreshingly engaging and welcoming place for all people. More than half the people attending Worship were not actively engaged in a church before walking in our doors. We try to present the unchanging, yet life changing, Word of God in ways that are memorable and relevant to what you are going through each day.

What kind of people come to Water’s Edge Church?

At Water’s Edge you will find all kinds of people. The soccer mom, the business man, the student , the person in a suit and the person in a tank top and flip flops all come together and realize we all have one thing in common. We are all sinners in need of a Savior and that Savior is Jesus Christ.  Spiritually speaking, you will encounter people who are all in different places in their spiritual journey. Some are exploring the Christian faith for the first time; others are returning and others have spent most of their lives in church.

What if I don’t normally go to church?

That’s OK. We have many people in our church for whom the church experience is new. We seek to create a welcoming environment for those who are curious about God, but have never felt comfortable in church. We also do our best to explain each element of the worship gathering so that people don’t get lost along the way.  We want Water’s Edge to be a place where you can learn, apply and wrestle with who God is and what He wants for you.  It’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out yet; we don’t either.

What are the worship gatherings like?

At Water’s Edge Frisco, we strive for an engaging and faith-strengthening worship environment. We purposely host worship services that are celebrative and upbeat, yet also orderly and instructive. Within our 60 minutes of worship, our Pastors lead us through a variety of purposed worship movements, all which focus our hearts on the forgiveness and wisdom of the living God. We are thankful that God has richly anointed our Pastors and Worship Leaders to deliver the Word of God to us in life-changing, heart-felt ways, and we pray for them to be as creative and engaging as possible. We try to make our worship gatherings accessible to those who are new to the Christian faith, and at the same time, fresh for those who have been in the church for a long time.

What does the pastor usually talk about?

We believe that God wants to be involved in our everyday lives, so we present the ageless truths of the Bible in a format that’s easy to understand, even if you’ve never been to church. At the core of the message each week is the Gospel –  the good news that in Jesus Christ, God is healing us and all creation. We believe this message has amazing ramifications for our lives and relationships so we try to communicate it in fresh and meaningful ways each week.

What about my children?

Water’s Edge is a family-friendly environment. There are of lots children and young families here. We believe making a difference in the next generation is one of our highest priorities.  We believe that children are a blessing from God and should be taught about God and his plan for the world in a fun learning environment.  For more information on our children’s programs, click here.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable wearing. Though there is no set dress code at Water’s Edge, most of our people dress on the casual side. There seems to be a high number of people wearing NFL jerseys, especially during football season.

Can I invite my friends?

We would love for you to invite your friends. We do our best to be a warm and welcoming environment for people who are curious about Christianity or who are looking to belong to a community of Christ-followers.

Water’s Edge will always be a mission church that focuses on making a difference in the community, connecting people to Christ and training and releasing them as missionaries of Jesus in their daily lives. Water’s Edge is part of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
