We encourage each person to look for ways to get involved in ministry outside the church walls. God gives each of us great opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people right where we live, work, shop and play. If you (and your family) are looking for a place to serve, consider one of the opportunities below.
Water’s Edge has an exciting calendar of events coming up that will enable us to touch the lives of people in North Texas and around the world.
SEPTEMBER 16: Metro Relief Act of Kindness
Have you heard of no-sew blankets and how fun they are to make? On Saturday, September 16th, at 9:00 a.m., bring the entire family to Water’s Edge to make no-sew fleece blankets for Metro Relief Homeless Outreach. These blankets will be a blessing for those out on the streets during the cold winter months. Sign up and let us know you’re coming. Also, please purchase 2 yards of a solid color fleece and 2 yards of patterned fleece. Keep an eye out for JoAnn coupons that will give you a discount! Bring fabric scissors (one to two pairs depending on your family size). We should be done before noon. Questions? Please contact Dawn Burwell.CLICK HERE TO RSVP
OCTOBER 8 – NOVEMBER 5: Operation Christmas Child
With our support, Operation Christmas Child is showing the love of Jesus Christ to underprivileged children around the globe with stories in the Bible and a shoe box filled with gifts. Our part is to decide whether to pack a box for a girl or a boy, and the age category (2–4, 5–9, or 10–14 years old). Select a Medium to Large “wow” item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then add toys, personal care items, and craft items/school supplies, and a personal note of peace & joy from your family.
Pick up a shoe box beginning Sunday, October 8th, and return it to church on or before Sunday, November 5th. Help us reach our goal of filling 100 boxes! Questions? Please contact Dawn Burwell.
DECEMBER 3 – JANUARY 14: Water’s Edge Angels
Throughout the year the church receives requests for services from families who are struggling. Providing a little help with gasoline or groceries can be a real blessing at a time when it’s needed most. Please choose an angel or two from the tree, which will be for a gift card purchase to locations that are requested most. Your donation will be greatly appreciated and will be given with love and prayer. Questions? Please contact Dawn Burwell.
