We encourage each person to look for ways to get involved in ministry outside the church walls. God gives each of us great opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people right where we live, work, shop and play. If you (and your family) are looking for a place to serve, consider one of the opportunities below.
Water’s Edge has an exciting calendar of events coming up that will enable us to touch the lives of people in North Texas and around the world.
December 7: Metro Relief Service Day
Water’s Edge partners with Metro Relief every month to serve the homeless in downtown Dallas. What does “serving” look like? We head out on Metro Relief’s bus, serve soup and drinks, hand out clean socks and hygiene kits and build relationships with people who have next to nothing. We’ll provide whatever training is required. All you need to do is show up and have a heart to treat people with the respect you’d give a guest in your home.
If you want to bring young ones under 15, please contact Pat Peters at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can talk about what’s appropriate for your kids.Click Here to Volunteer for Metro Relief

December 14: Sing Christmas Carols and Deliver Care Packages
(All Ages are Welcome!) Join us on Saturday, December 14, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Water’s Edge as we sing Christmas songs at a retirement home and hand out care packages to the residents. We will meet at Water’s Edge to practice from 10:00-10:20 AM, and then we will head over as a group to the retirement community. Please RSVP to Angela Grassmuck if you can make it (214-621-8222).
December 21: Feed My Starving Children (Packing Meals)
REGISTRATION IS FULL FOR THIS EVENT
Water’s Edge families are invited on Saturday, December 21, from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM, to come out to the Richardson “Feed My Starving Children” location (1680 N. Glenville Dr, Suite 300, Richardson, TX 75081) to spend 2 holiday hours packing meals for children around the world.
FMSC offers volunteers a one-of-a-kind experience. You’ll hand-pack rice, soy, dried vegetables and a nutritionally complete blend of vitamins and minerals into bags which are then sealed, boxed, placed on pallets and shipped to our incredible partners working hard to reach the neediest children. Through volunteering, you’ll get the chance to impact hundreds of kids in just two hours per packing shift. You’ll experience what it’s like to make a tangible difference today.
The minimum age for volunteering is 5 years old. For safety reasons, children under the age of 5 are not allowed to participate in packing sessions.
Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your packing session to check-in. Your orientation and packing instructions will take place during your scheduled shift time.
We highly recommend all volunteers wear closed-toed shoes. If you volunteer in the warehouse, closed-toed shoes will be required. Otherwise, please come in clean, comfortable clothes. Due to FDA compliance for food manufacturing plants, NO jewelry may be worn in the packing room.
If you have had a cough, fever, diarrhea, pink eye, or have been vomiting or are contagious within the last 24 hours, we ask that you reschedule your packing time.
