We encourage each person to look for ways to get involved in ministry outside the church walls. God gives each of us great opportunities to make a difference in the lives of people right where we live, work, shop and play. If you (and your family) are looking for a place to serve, consider one of the opportunities below.
Water’s Edge has an exciting calendar of events coming up that will enable us to touch the lives of people in North Texas and around the world.
February 24 – March 17: Water’s Edge Sneaker and Sock Drive
Beginning Sunday, February 24, help us by supporting Buckner Shoes for Orphan Souls and Metro Relief.
Water’s Edge will be collecting NEW tennis shoes for boys and girls (ages 5 to 15) for orphanages throughout the world. A new pair of shoes is not only a precious gift, but it also saves the kids from diseases.
While you’re out getting shoes, pick up a pack of men’s black crew socks for Metro Relief. The Metro Relief bus hands out socks to the homeless every weekend. They are always in need as they go through their supply quickly.
Collection ends March 17.

Metro Relief – Volunteer Opportunities Each Month
Water’s Edge partners with Metro Relief every month to serve the homeless in downtown Dallas. What does “serving” look like? We head out on Metro Relief’s bus, serve soup and drinks, hand out clean socks and hygiene kits and build relationships with people who have next to nothing. We’ll provide whatever training is required. All you need to do is show up and have a heart to treat people with the respect you’d give a guest in your home.
Upcoming Service Days: February 23, March 23, and April 27
If you want to bring young ones under 15, please contact Pat Peters at email@example.com so we can talk about what’s appropriate for your kids.Click Here to Volunteer
A day of serving starts with meeting at Metro Relief’s headquarters in The Colony at 8:30 AM on a Saturday. We make soup, load up our supplies on the bus and then head downtown. Everyone travels on the bus, so you don’t need to take your vehicle downtown. We return to The Colony between 2:00 and 3:00 PM, where we spend about 30 minutes cleaning up the bus and doing the dishes. You’re typically ready to go home by 3:00 PM.
This is a great opportunity to be on a one-day mission trip. Come and join us!
