Holy Land Pilgrimage 2019
INFORMATIONAL MEETING: Sunday, November 11, at 12:15 p.m. following the late service. Please join us to explore if this opportunity is right for you.
You are invited to take a pilgrimage on November 4-16, 2019, to the places in the world where God chose to come to earth. Jesus was born here, lived here, taught here, died here and rose here. You will be in all of those places. You’ll stand where the shepherds stood when the angels sang of Christ’s birth. You’ll hear the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus preached it. You’ll be reminded of your own baptism when you visit where Jesus was baptized. You’ll look up at a cross where Jesus’ cross stood, and you’ll look into the empty tomb from which Jesus rose. But that will be only the beginning. A trip to the Holy Land continues for the rest of your life. Once you get back home, every time you come to church or read the Bible and hear the account of a miracle, a parable, an act or event in the life of Christ, you will be thinking back and will have pictures and experiences that go along with your thoughts because of what you have seen. That’s the life-changing, faith-enhancing part of this.
There is also a lot of fun. You’ll float on the dead sea. You’ll ride in a Jeep through the Jordanian desert. You’ll experience the culture of Bethlehem, Petra, Nazareth and Jerusalem. Pastor Mark has been to the Holy Land, and there was never a moment when he didn’t feel safe. Most moments were filled with amazement and gratitude. This trip will be worth your time, energy and money. Pastor Mark would love to have you join him for something you will never forget. Please contact Pastor Mark if interested and with any questions.
As Christians we are called to be missionaries of Jesus. Living out this calling is exciting, but it is not always easy. We often think it will take a lot of time and add a bunch of things to our already packed schedules. We often try to go at it alone for a little while then become discouraged and give up. That is why at Water’s Edge we have formed TK Groups. TK stands for “Tangible Kingdom.” These groups meet for 8-10 weeks and utilize the Tangible Kingdom Primer, which is a short, but extremely useful, practical guide on how to develop the habits and life rhythms we need to have to live as missionaries. It not only help us talk about how to do these things it gives us weekly challenges to practice what we are learning.
Jesus never sent his disciples out on mission alone. We were created to live, serve, and learn in community. That is why we have formed the “TK Groups.” They are intentional and intimate groups where people can come together often to encourage and hold each other accountable to the mission God has called them to. Through this process God will stretch and grow you in ways you have never imagined. By the power of the Holy Spirit you will start to see the world around you through a new missional lens and have the relationships and tools to help you be the missionary God created you to be. In short, “TK Groups” don’t add mission to your busy schedule; instead, these groups will help you see all of your life, work, play, and family time as an opportunity to join God’s mission.

We know that it’s the desire of every believer to be able to grow in their faith and be prepared to share it. But, it takes practice and an intentional effort. This is the opportunity to do just that. Intentional Discipling Relationships make all the difference in the world in growing to understand and know Jesus more closely. For those of us that have been involved in this kind of relationship, it’s helped us to be much more prepared to share the good news of Jesus with others. As Jesus sent out his disciples he always sent them in twos. There was no mistake in that strategy; we need each other for support, encouragement and prayer. Throughout the year we offer a three-month Discipling Relationship journey, and we pray you will consider joining us and allow Jesus to further transform you on this all important journey of recklessly living out his mission.
